Component update with UniSystem Upgrade components of multiple servers in bulk. To upgrade drivers, you must install FIST SMS in the operating system.
Driver upgrade with iFIST Install drivers when the operating system is installed.
Firmware name Restrictions and guidelines
Firmware package
  • Before performing One-key upgrade or Single upgrade, make sure the driver matching the firmware version is installed.
  • After the component package upgrade is completed, the firmware enters a pending activation state and might not allow another upgrade. If a re-upgrade is required, restart the device first to avoid redundant operations.
  • Before performing Offline firmware upgrade, make sure the Secure Boot feature is disabled for the server.
Drive package
  • Member drives of the RAID-P430 series storage controllers cannot be upgraded. If necessary, contact H3C Support.
  • Before upgrading the drive firmware, make sure drives managed by the LSI storage controller are in normal state (no Ubad drive exists and no foreign information exists).
Memblaze drives After you upgrade the driver firmware, you must cold restart the device for the new firmware to take effect.
PMC 460 series storage controllers PMC controllers of an early version use IDs [9005,028f,9005,0900] and [9005,028f,9005,0800], which are not supported by the current component package. If necessary, contact H3C Support.
E810 and X710 series-related firmware package When the server is installed with both E810 and X710 series network adapters, do not upgrade these two types of firmware through UniSystem simultaneously as a best practice. Instead, use REPO packages in the LiveCD.ISO format for the upgrade.
Out-of-band firmware package
  • When you create a REPO that includes the Storage component, you can select a maximum of one firmware package for the component.
  • When you create a REPO that includes the Storage Controller component, you can select a maximum of one firmware package for the component.
Driver name Restrictions and guidelines
Driver package
  • At the first-time installation, if the system does not have an Inbox driver, the current version field displays UNKNOWN, which does not affect the upgrade result.
  • REPO does not support upgrading Mellanox and Yunsilicon network adapters in Linux. If you need any help, contact H3C Support.
Driver package of the Mellanox network adapter
  • Before installing the Mellanox Win2012R2 driver package, make sure system patches KB2919442, KB2919355, and KB2999226 are installed.
  • During the installation of the Mellanox Linux driver package, if not all dependencies are installed successfully, install the related dependencies as prompted before executing the driver package.
  • The network adapter driver packages of Mellanox CX4 series and above cannot be used together with the driver package for NIC-10GE-2P-520F-B2.
REPO customization supports multiple customization scenarios. You can select a customization method as needed to download a single component package or create and download an .iso file.
  • Provides the built-in bootable small OS without dependency upon the host OS.
  • Contains only firmware packages, not driver packages.
  • Applicable to offline upgrade of a single server, and applicable to bulk offline upgrade with UniSystem.
  • Contains only the component packages for firmware upgrade (including HDM firmware component package and OM firmware component package).
  • Applicable to HDM out-of-band firmware upgrade and OM firmware upgrade.
  • HDM REPO customized in-band channel does not support upgrading HDM, BIOS, or CPLD firmwares.
Driver Customization
  • Contains only the component packages for server driver upgrade.
  • Applicable to driver upgrade of a single server, applicable to driver upgrade during OS deployment when used with iFIST, and applicable to bulk driver upgrade when used with FIST SMS and UniSystem.
Combined Customization
  • Contains LiveCD customization (optional), firmware customization (sectional), and driver customization.
